  Research Highlights
BACKGROUND:Curcumin was found to exert neuroprotective effects on rat hippocampal neurons by inhibiting the rapid influx of Ca2+ induced by interleukin-6 and maintaining calcium homeostasis.

  |Abstract|HTML|PDF|Supplementary |Editor’s Choice
|Article Category|Instruction for Authors|Sample Article|Submission
  Research Highlights

BACKGROUND:
Butternut squash extract decreased escape latency and distance traveled in the Morris water maze in male rats
Butternut squash extract increased the time spent in target quadrant in the Morris water maze in male rats
Butternut squash extract caused proliferation of dentate gyrus cells in male rats

Tolerance of nestin+ cholinergic neurons in the basal forebrain against colchicine-induced cytotoxicity★
Neural Regeneration Research 2011;6(1860-1864):
Jing Yu1, Kaihua Guo1, Dongpei Li1, Jinhai Duan2, Juntao Zou1, Junhua Yang1, Zhibin Yao1
Supported by:the National Natural Science Foundation of China, No. 30700436*

  Research Highlights
BACKGROUND:After 28 days of colchicine treatment, the number of nestin+ cholinergic neurons increased but the number of nestin- cholinergic neurons, parvalbumin-positive neurons decreased. These results show that nestin+ cholinergic neurons have better tolerance to colchicine-induced neurotoxicity.

5

Inhibitory effects of Shuanghuanglian injection on nuclear factor-kappa B expression in mice with viral encephalitis in a time- and dose-dependent manner★
Neural Regeneration Research 2011;6(1865-1869):
Ye Tian, Caiping Han, Naibing Gu, Zhengli Di, Gejuan Zhang, Hui Lei
Supported by:the Health Research Fund from Health Department of Shaanxi Province, China, No. 04015*

  |Abstract|HTML|PDF|Supplementary |Editor’s Choice
|Article Category|Instruction for Authors|Sample Article|Submission
  Research Highlights
BACKGROUND:The results of this study suggested that Shuanghuanglian injection can reduce nuclear factor-kappa B expression in mice with viral encephalitis in a time- and dose-dependent manner.
